The president reportedly told guests at the White House that Jill begged Biden to “stop it, stop it now” in reference to the fighting in Gaza.
Biden brought this up during Tuesday’s discussion with members of the Muslim community with his guests.
A attendee confided in Biden that his wife had frowned upon his presence at the gathering due to the President’s backing of Israel’s military offensive in Gaza, as reported by the New York Times.
“Mr. Biden replied that he understood,” the article says. He said that the first lady had been telling him to “Stop it, stop it now” before he made his comments, according to someone beside him.
When questioned about the president’s comments, the White House clarified that Jill Biden did not demand that Israel terminate its conflict in Gaza, according to the report.
