BUA Cement has come clean about the reasons behind the failure of its nationwide rollout of a product price of N3,500 per 50 kg bag.
The business claimed that market forces were working against the strategy.
Two civil society groups had given the company seven days to sell cement for N3,500 a bag or face picketing. The company has now explained.
The business insisted it had kept its word.
Our cement was sold for three to four months for N3,500. Mr. Kabir Rabiu, the executive director, told Leadership that they believed other companies in the cement business would also work to lower cement prices.
According to Kabir, the reason BUA couldn’t keep the N3,500 price cut was because middlemen and wholesalers blocked the deal from reaching its final consumers.
