Troops from the Nigerian Army and local vigilantes in the Taraba state allegedly caught a gun runner.
Mansir Mohammed was apprehended in Jalingo Motor Park on charges of allegedly providing terrorists with weapons.
This was said on Monday in Abuja by Maj.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations.
The forces, according to Nwachukwu, not only eliminated a terrorist but also thwarted an attempt at kidnapping.
Following Mohammed’s arrest, other members of his syndicate were apprehended, and a Semi-Automatic Pump Action gun was recovered, according to him.
Additionally, he mentioned that a Peugeot automobile, five mobile phones, N45,000, and a locally made rifle were all found.
Two suspected terrorists were apprehended by the troops in a separate operation at Miyande Village, Takum Local Government Area of the state, according to Nwachukwu. The suspects were found hiding automatic guns beneath a motorcycle seat.
In addition to a motorcycle and five rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, he mentioned that they seized one AK-47 rifle.
Meanwhile, in Zaki-Biam Town, Zaki-Biam Local Government Area, Benue, military responded to a distress call and managed to stop a kidnapping attempt.
The intervention saw the neutralization of one kidnapper and the recovery of a Beretta Pistol along with four rounds of nine rounds of ammo.
