Guardiola announces heavy injury blow to Man City ahead of Real Madrid match

Pep Guardiola, manager of Manchester City, has stated that he replaced Josko Gvardiol before halftime of their 4-2 victory over Crystal Palace due to the player’s injury.

Manuel Akanji came on for Gvardiol during halftime at Selhurst Park.

The health of the Croatian defender has cast question on his availability for Tuesday’s Champions League match against Real Madrid.

Because Josko [Gvardiol] had a minor issue, we will assess our available players. It will be seen. Proceed to the next one.

Having to play so soon after Aston Villa was a stroke of bad luck, but at least we have a few days to rest before facing Real Madrid. Guardiola stated afterwards that they would strive to play a competitive game.
