An probe into an assault on a journalist has been ordered by Immigration CG Nandap

An investigation into the alleged assault of journalist Seun Falomo and workers of the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Agency (OYSRTMA) by certain immigration agents has been ordered by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

Kemi Nandap, the NIS Comptroller General, issued the directive on Wednesday in Abuja, according to a statement issued by Mr. Kenneth Udo, the Service Public Relations Officer (SPRO).

Nandap assured the public that the Service will take disciplinary action against any member who disobeyed the rules.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, a rumor had been going around that certain immigration officials had attacked OYSRTMA employees and a journalist named Seun Falomo from Galaxy Television.

According to the incident report that was quickly sent from the NIS Headquarters in Ibadan, Oyo State, the incident took place at the Onipepeye area (Old Ife road). According to NAN, the report stated that OYSRTMA personnel allegedly apprehended a retired Assistant Comptroller of Immigration (ACI) for violating traffic laws.

His son, who was driving his car, had a broken leg as a result of the assault that occurred as the latter attempted to explain himself while the troops attempted to apprehend him.

Nandap said that the scene unfortunately became even more heated when immigration officials from the Zone F office attempted to step in.

“I have directed a comprehensive examination into the matter and we have, nevertheless, taken swift action to reveal the truth behind the altercation,” she stated.

Nandap pleaded with the people to have compassion and asked for long-term cooperation between related government entities.

The head of NIS has stated her determination to carry out the agency’s fundamental responsibilities with the utmost professionalism and honesty, including, but not limited to, border security and migration management.
